HOW TO USE THIS CALCULATOR
POINTS TO NOTE – Please read!
- Find out from your HR/Union what rates you are entitled to when you work weekends or extra hours within the week (overtime pay rate). E.g., You may be entitled to Time & a Half during the week, Double Time on Saturdays and Triple Time on Sundays & Holidays.
- Find out from your HR/Union what your premium is when you work certain shifts, e.g., your night shift premium may be 20%.
- Only enter information in the cells according to the instructions below.
- To delete information from a cell, double click the cell and use the backspace button to remove unwanted information.
- If you make a mistake, e.g., you edited a cell that you should not have, just refresh the page to start over.
- If you are using a mobile device, you may have to double click the cells for your keyboard to come up and allow you to enter information in the cells.
STEP 1
Input your gross annual salary (the purple cell).
STEP 2
If you work on shift, enter the shift premium (the blue cell). This is usually a percentage, e.g., 10%. If your shift premium is 10%, enter 0.10 in the blue cell.
If you work on more than one shift that has a premium, enter one shift premium in the blue cell and then enter the other shift premium in the green cell.
STEP 3
In the orange cells, enter:
- the number of hours you worked on the shifts that pay premium rates.
STEP 4
In the pink cells, enter:
- the number of extra hours that you worked. N.B. Enter for each category (Time & a Half, Double Time, Triple Time).
STEP 5
View your GRAND TOTAL in the black cell.
N.B. UNLESS absolutely necessary, please DO NOT edit the figures that are automatically calculated, e.g., the dollar figures for the “Rates for Extra Hours”.
